Chi was founded in 1998 by a group of men from several different clubs. Founded on the principles of Christian service and dedication to Christ, each year the club also strives to hold on to the traditions of the founding fathers. The men of Chi Lambda Phi have proven to be leaders on campus and within the body of Christ.

The men of Chi are Scotsmen. They have chosen this mascot as Scottish warriors were renowned as being some of the bravest, fiercest soldiers of their time. With the rampant lion as their emblem, the Scotsmen can also be seen wearing kilts and jigging in Spring Sing.

Since the beginning of Chi Lambda Phi, the Scots have gone from not placing at all their first year to having won six times in a row, a school record. It has become an event that the men enjoy and anticipate every year. Chi has also won numerous Intramural All-Sports awards as well.

Whatever the occasion, the men of Chi strive to live by their key verse, II Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
